Brief Description: Hazardous Materials for the Code Official

Full Description: Under the Fire Code of New York State, local officials have a significant responsibility and the authority to ensure proper storage and handling of hazardous materials.  Training includes the principles of hazardous materials identification, identification of the nine classes and appropriate divisions applied to hazardous materials, and proper storage.  Also includes separating incompatible materials, marking facilities storing hazardous materials, and the code’s responsibility in the hazardous materials reporting requirements.  OSHA 1910.120 training requirements for Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness Level are included.
